This wednesday, 20th of May 2015 at 10:20pm ORF III sets an emphasis on preimplantation diagnostics (PID) with a documentation from “Treffpunkt Medizin”. Our experts for reproductive medicine were invited to take part in this broadcast.
Since 2015 Austrian Law permits preimplantation diagnostics (PID) in special cases: a cell is extracted from an embryo which has developed with the support of in-vitro fertilization in order to detect possible genetic diseases. The purpose of this technology is to only transfer embryos which aren’t carriers of a genetic disease. What does this mean for parenthood, the child and the social attitude towards the future of reproductive medicine? „Treffpunkt Medizin“ deals with this controversial topic with the help of opinion leaders from research, practice and ethics.
